Invasive Species Removal

We’re protecting our native plant species this November by removing invasive plants (botanical bullies, if you will!) that threaten our local green spaces, and you’re invited!

On Saturday Nov. 7 from 1pm – 3:30pm join us at Mystery Park (985 Olreans Blvd.) here in Orleans to remove invasive Buckthorn. Buckthorn is a nasty invasive plant species that impacts local ecology by displacing native plants and causing soil erosion.

We’ll provide the supplies, but please do bring gloves if you have them.

**This event is for adults and youth ages 14 and up.**

[For students, this is a great way to get some volunteer hours, while being outdoors!]

Together, we can help remove small Buckthorn shrubs in the area and collect berries to prevent spread in the spring.

Environmental change doesn’t happen at an individual level, but from individuals joining together to fight for the future generations’ right to enjoy our neighborhood’s beautiful greenspaces. Join us!
