We are pleased to report that progress continues to be made toward building a sixth bridge across the Ottawa River at Kettle Island. Such progress allows us to be increasingly secure in the knowledge that our Greenbelt will remain untouched.
Here are some recent highlights:
- In June 2026, the NCC Board of Directors approved the Planning and Design Principles for the Eastern Bridge, which includes a timeline showing that the project is currently in the planning and design phase, with final design and construction to take place 2029–2034.
- On August 7, 2026, the Initial Project Description was submitted to the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (IAAC) and made publicly available.
- A series of relevant documents is available on the NCC website.
Long live the Greenbelt!
