March 16, 2025 Update
Well, we finally had to shut down for the season on late Friday. What a fantastic year we had!! 68 days open, which is a record year in recent years. We were fortunate to be open for Christmas Break and March Break!
We are all proud that we stayed open 68 days after a long season with various weather conditions! That’s an achievement and I’m proud to be part of the team! Last year was 25 days, year before 55, 3 years ago was 60, and 53 before that! As a group of volunteers and community members doing their part to help out, it’s been another very successful season! It was wonderful to see all the smiling faces of the kids and adults who got out!
Highlights:
- This has been another very busy year, we started Dec. 6th !
- New heated change shack with support from Laura Dudas and Convent Glen / Orleans Wood Community Association, very well received!
- 3 classes from Terry Fox Elementary School using for their Phys Ed program during the days, hours, weeks etc…
- Forget the many residents of all ages learning to skate!
- Young men & women from across the city, who travelled to our rink just to get a good game of shinny or Ringette going.
A special thanks go out to the following Volunteers who helped out a lot this year:
- Hiemstra family, Rick, Peter & James.
- Luke – student volunteer hours for school
- Tony Sullivan
- Eric McKay
- Ryan O’ Connell
- Chris McArthur
- Jeff Fennessy
- Many Thanks to the remainder of our group as well! We all chipped in to make it happen!
- Adrien Blais
- Gary Bradshaw
- Liam & Padraig- Students volunteer Hours for school
- Dave Cuddemi
- Jason Mongrain
Thanks also to:
- Myers Chevy, Olds & Nissan for their sponsorship again!
- Worry Free snow blowing for donating snow removal and taking care of us during a bunch of storms!
- Robertson Rent-all for allowing us to use a Landscaping roller free of charge at beginning of the season again!
- Thanks to Laura Dudas, her team & City of Ottawa for their continued support, especially securing our new shack!
- Thanks to Convent Glen Orleans Wood Community Association (CGOWCA) for their continued support!
Next season will be exciting as well, as we are expecting new Boards and pad/paving surface during the summer months! Fingers crossed, everything goes as planned! We will continue our efforts next season for another, great year. You are all very important to our team. We all do our best to the upkeep of the rinks. I look forward to seeing you all next year, enjoy your spring & summer with your families!
Take care and much appreciated!
Jeff & The Volunteers
Outdoor skating season is starting again, and our incredible community volunteers work very hard all winter to prepare and maintain the local ice surfaces. Keep up with the latest ice quality and rink status details using the linked image above.
This year, the rinks will have new change benches, and in December the city has installed an indoor changing room next to the rink. The ice surfaces at Jeanne d’Arc Park are some of the best maintained in the city, and that is thanks to the tireless work of our volunteers.

New photos from January 12th showing the rink getting lots of use, and the great ice quality!

Some pics of skaters enjoying the ice on Dec 28th:

Dec 26 some neat 360 images (and a video) were captured:

Dec 24 the shack was flipped around:

On December 23rd, we got a better view of the changing shack in the daytime (though it was installed facing the wrong way):

On December 22nd, the rink opened to the public, and the new changing shack was installed on site that same evening:
