As we approach the upcoming provincial and federal elections in Canada, our community association recognizes the importance of fostering open and respectful dialogue. Politics is an integral part of our daily lives, influencing everything from local policies to national decisions. To say that we won’t host discussions of politics on our platforms is, in itself, a political stance. Defining what can and cannot be said is inherently political by nature.
However, we want to make it clear that our commitment to maintaining a safe and inclusive space remains unwavering. We will not tolerate attacks, or hateful language or messages, nor will we accept arguments made in bad faith. Our goal is to ensure that everyone feels welcome and respected within our community.
We believe that constructive discussions, rooted in compassion and a genuine consideration of diverse perspectives, are essential for a thriving community. By engaging in meaningful conversations, we can better understand each other’s viewpoints and work together towards common goals.
Let’s embrace this opportunity to share our thoughts, listen to others, and contribute to a positive and collaborative environment. After all, we’re all in this together, sharing space in our community. Let’s make it a place where everyone feels heard and valued.
